The Joy and Pain of MARIO

I was surprised, touched and encouraged by the May 5, 2008 issue of Jet Magazine that featured this article about Mario. Some how I have the impression that he is as God fearing as he is successful. I have never known him to have lewd or inapropriate lyrics (Lay in my Bed seems close, but I’ve never seen the video, so I’ll leave it at that)

I thought it was relavant that his views on his personal life experiences with his mother was so in tune with what I wrote in an article for teens.

I wrote this about three days ago and published it today. It seems that many teens and young adults are faced with crises and issues that bring the rich, the poor, the Chrisian and the non-Christian on a level basis.

I am proud of Mario for being strong, minded and supportive toward his mother and encourage young people to do the same. I know it seems complicated, but solving issues can become a reality.

I almost didn’t pick up the magazine, because, truthfully, I have never bought Jet before. Also, I figured that it might be just another bland success story, or a lot of blah-blah about how much Mario is loved, and his love life and so on.

I put it down in one store and by the end of the day, I picked it up again in another store and decided to buy it. I think the deciding factor, psychologically, was remembering how much his song, “Let Me Love You” helped me. As a Christian, I get encouragement from the unlikliest places some times. But there you have it. God used to lyrics to show me how special I was.

I commend his mother for her wisdom and foresite in making her issue public. It is one of the things I try to implement to people regularly. Get it off your chest and out into the open! I had to do the same when I was faced with a serious issue.

I hope many young people view this site (and my own) and I hope and pray Mario continues his work. When you see him, tell him I said “God bless and continue to do well!”

It made me realize just how many young people out their need personal attention.
I never thought it was my forte, but I guess a Christian has to cover as many bases as possible.
